Marshfield (OnFocus) – Great performances from area athletes deserve to be celebrated. Check out some of the top performers for this past week, and be sure to vote for the top performer!
Team of the Week Nominees, Week of January 24 – January 30
- Columbus Catholic Boys Basketball – The Dons took a half game lead atop the Cloverbelt East by claiming a pair of wins this week. Columbus defeated Colby 72-65 and 68-50 over Owen-Withee.
- SPASH Boys Basketball – The Panthers picked up three Wisconsin Valley Conference wins this week, edging Rapids 60-59, Wausau East 61-40, and 54-45 over Wausau West. SPASH has won 7 in a row, and are 8-1 in the WVC, a half game behind DC Everest.
- Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal Wrestling – N/G/L took first at Division 2 Regionals at Regis. N/G/L picked up three first place finishes, four second place finishes, and took third three times.
- Marshfield Boys Hockey – The Tigers built a 5-1 lead in their game against Baraboo only to see the T-Birds storm back to take a 6-5 lead in the third period. Marshfield forced overtime with a goal from Sawyer Schindler and then won in overtime from a goal by Tristan Reissman.
- Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Wrestling – The Raiders narrowly lost out on a regional title, finishing with 217 points, behind Holmen’s 227 points. Rapids advanced 7 wrestlers on to sectionals, and in a year when only two wrestlers advance from regional, had three wrestlers take third at regionals.
