MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) — The Marshfield Common Council approved a $100,000 budget resolution Monday to fund the hiring of a new Community Development Director, a position not included in the original 2026 budget.
The council authorized the job description and recruiting process at its March 20 meeting. Human Resources Director Sarah Dresel said the $100,000 figure reflects prorated salary and benefits for the remainder of 2026, with the position anticipated to be filled around May.
Funding for the position in future years will be addressed in the next budget cycle.
The funds will come from the city’s general fund. Dresel said during the 2025 budget process, both the general fund and the 205 fund were identified as potential sources, with a final determination deferred until 2026 if the position moved forward.
Recruiting for the position is currently underway.
