The WIAA Board of Control has approved the use of a shot clock in non-conference basketball games if both schools agree, starting in the 2026-2027 school year.
This would be the first time that in-state competitive basketball games can have a shot clock in Wisconsin. Teams that have played in states like Minnesota and Iowa, which have a shot clock, have played with it, and there have been summer tournaments this year that have used a shot clock.
A second proposal to implement a full shot clock for all games was approved and sent to a vote of the full WIAA membership at the annual meeting in 2027.
OnFocus will have full coverage of the WIAA Board of Control Meeting later today.
