CENTRAL WISCONSIN, WI (OnFocus) – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of central Wisconsin from 11 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, through 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, as a mix of freezing drizzle and snow is expected to create hazardous travel conditions across the region.
The advisory covers Adams, Clark, Jackson, Juneau, and Monroe counties, where forecasters say a wintry mix will begin Tuesday evening, starting as freezing drizzle before transitioning to snow overnight and into Wednesday morning.
Meteorologists warn that ice accumulations may produce a light glaze on roads and other surfaces, followed by snowfall totals ranging from 1 to 3 inches in the advisory area. The changing conditions are expected to make travel slippery, especially during the Wednesday morning commute.
Farther north in Wisconsin, snow totals could reach 2 to 4 inches, particularly north of Highway 29, while areas closer to the Interstate 90 and Interstate 94 corridors may see freezing drizzle mix in before colder air changes precipitation over to snow.
Officials are urging drivers to slow down and use caution if traveling overnight or early Wednesday. Road conditions may deteriorate quickly as precipitation moves in and temperatures remain near or below freezing.
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts and check the latest travel information through Wisconsin’s official road conditions website at 511wi.gov.
