The 2025 football season is upon us, and we have a slate of interesting non-conference games (And a few Conference Games) on the docket over the next two days. Some clashes of powers and some interesting measuring sticks for teams.

2025 Week 1 Football Scoreboard

Thursday

DC Everest @ Rice Lake
Both teams made deep playoff runs last year (Rice Lake losing in the D2 title game, DC Everest falling in the State Semifinals), and it will be interesting to see how each team reloads going into 2025. A good test to see where each one matches up.

Newman Catholic @ Florence
A matchup of teams that have won three of the last four 8-Player state championships should be an early indication of where both teams stand if they want to make another run to Wisconsin Rapids.

Friday

Owen-Withee @ Gilman
A matchup of powerhouses in 8-Player Football. Owen-Withee, coming off an undefeated season and a state championship, was given its biggest regular-season test with Gilman pushing them right to the end. Both teams will be looking to notch a major win to start the season.

You can watch the Blackhawks take on the Pirates live here.

Stratford @ Mosinee
A yearly matchup at this point, that isn’t as big a division gap as it has been in the past, with Stratford bumped up to Division 5 and Mosinee dropping to Division 4. Stratford has used this game as a springboard into the seasons that have led to 3 straight State Championships, going 2-0-1 over those three years.

Loyal/Greenwood @ Abbotsford
What was once the premier rivalry in the Cloverwood (Loyal vs Abbotsford) is relegated to non-conference for one more year. It should be a good measuring stick for where each team is sitting, and for Loyal/Greenwood, a big win to try and get into the playoffs.
