COLBY, WI (OnFocus) — The ShowCase Players proudly present their spring production of The Outsider, a sharply funny and perfectly timed political comedy by Paul Slade Smith. Performances will be held at the Colby High School Theatre on April 10–11 and 17–18 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances on April 12 and 19 at 2:00 p.m.

The Outsider follows the sudden rise of Ned Newley (Greg Jackan), the incoming governor who never expected, nor wanted, to be in the spotlight. By his side is Dave Riley (Jordan Aschenbrenner), his protective assistant who works tirelessly to keep the administration afloat. To help manage the chaos, the team brings in Paige Caldwell (Samantha Yocius), a professional pollster whose steady expertise aims to give Newley a fighting chance.

But the political waters only get murkier when Arthur Vance (Andy Wuethrich), an overbearing political advisor, swoops in with big ideas and bigger theatrics. Meanwhile, the office is thrown into delightful disorder by Louise Peakes (Crystal Wuethrich), an office temp whose energetic goodwill barely masks her utter incompetence, creating some of the play’s most unforgettable comedic moments.

As the pressure mounts, the administration finds itself under the watchful eye of Rachel Parsons (Jeffer Scheuer), an inquisitive TV news reporter determined to uncover a story, and A.C. Petersen (Steve Schmidt), her down-to-earth camera assistant who often sees more than anyone realizes.

Directed by Roxie Wetterau and stage-managed by Montana Smith-Frome, The Outsider offers a witty, heartfelt look at leadership, authenticity, and the unpredictability of modern politics. Packed with humor and charm, this production promises an evening of laughter for audiences of all ages.
