Marshfield council to appoint replacement for District 3 seat

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Marshfield Common Council will use an appointment process to fill the upcoming District 3 vacancy after Council Member Natasha Tompkins announced she will resign effective Aug. 1.

Council members discussed their options Tuesday before deciding to appoint someone to serve the remainder of the term rather than leave the seat vacant or trigger an earlier election process.

Tompkins has represented District 3 since 2022, according to city records. Her resignation will leave one of the council’s 10 aldermanic seats open.

Council members said appointing a replacement would ensure District 3 residents continue to have representation on the council.

The city is expected to seek applicants for the seat before the council makes an appointment.
