Major Winter Storm Impacting Central Wisconsin
The closures come as a powerful winter storm moves across the Upper Midwest on March 15, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerous travel conditions across Wisconsin.
Meteorologists warn that the system could produce over two feet of snow in parts of the region along with wind gusts strong enough to create blowing and drifting snow, significantly reducing visibility and making travel hazardous.
In the Marshfield area, forecasts call for heavy snowfall Sunday with temperatures around the upper 20s and winds exceeding 20 mph, conditions that can quickly create icy roads and poor driving conditions.
Weather services have also indicated the possibility of 15 to 22 inches of total snow with wind gusts approaching 50 mph across parts of Central Wisconsin, which could lead to blizzard-like conditions and scattered power outages.
Travel and Safety Advisory
Residents throughout Central Wisconsin are encouraged to:
-
Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy snow and high winds
-
Monitor local weather alerts and road conditions
-
Allow extra time for essential travel Monday morning
-
Watch for updates from local health systems, schools, and government offices
More updates regarding Marshfield Clinic operations are expected as the storm continues to impact the region.
