Can’t Make It to Oshkosh? You Can Watch AirVenture Live All Week
OSHKOSH, Wis. — The 73rd EAA AirVenture opens today at Wittman Regional Airport and runs through Sunday, July 26. If you can’t get to Oshkosh this year, you don’t have to miss it. EAA is streaming the whole week for free at eaa.org/airventure/live.
Last year the fly-in drew around 704,000 people over seven days. Not everybody can take the week off, fight the traffic, or track down a campsite. The livestream is the next best seat. And the camera angles beat most spots along the flightline.
Here’s what’s running, and when. All times are Central.
The daily air show
The afternoon shows are the headline draw. Streams start around 2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday, presented by Pratt & Whitney and Daher. EAA has nine shows lined up over the seven days, and the broadcast gives you show-center sound and camera work you’d never get from a lawn chair.
This year’s roster is worth clearing your afternoon for. The U.S. Army Golden Knights open things Monday. The Flying Bulls out of Austria are making their first-ever American appearance with a restored P-38 and a DC-6, flown across the Atlantic to get here. Add the USAF F-16 Viper demo, the Marines’ F-35B, the RAF Red Arrows, and the Titan Aerobatic Team, and there’s plenty to keep you parked in front of the screen.
Two night shows
Wednesday, July 22 and Saturday, July 25 bring the night air shows, complete with fireworks and drones. If you only tune in twice all week, make it those two.
Cameras running around the clock
The Green Dot Camera streams 24/7 for the whole event, so you can check in on the grounds any time. Wayfinding cameras pan nearly 180 degrees across the runways and the airplane camping areas. That’s its own kind of fun to watch. Ten thousand aircraft have to park somewhere.
Evening programming
Most nights around 7 p.m., EAA streams evening programming from the Theater in the Woods and the Twilight Flight Fest at the Fun Fly Zone. Think panels, presentations, STOL demos, illuminated powered parachutes, and RC aircraft. The exceptions are Wednesday and Saturday, when the night air shows take over.
