Vvolt Launches Centauri II: A Smooth Mid-Drive, Auto-Shift Commuter ebike

Mechanical Auto-Shift Hub, Gates Carbon Drive and Powerful Motor Offer A Lightweight and Low-Maintenance Ride for the Urban Commuter

PORTLAND, Ore. – September 11, 2024 – Vvolt (https://vvolt.com), a company focused on making e-transportation the most common form of mobility, today launches its Centauri II, a new generation of ebike capturing the brand’s rider-first ethos with a smooth, powerful, lightweight design built for urban commuters.

Since its inception, Vvolt has focused on designing and building products that solve human transportation challenges through electric mobility, and the Centauri II reflects that in both Vvolt’s focus on bridging technology and design to build better urban transportation, Centauri II strikes a balance between the comfort of an upright Dutch bike and the performance of a sporty hybrid.

A range of technology and premium components keep the Centauri II’s weight down to 50 lbs while ensuring a smooth, stable ride. The mechanical automatic 3-speed internal rear hub transmission – the first to market in North America – knows when to shift, adjusting from gears 1-3 as the rider speeds up and slows down. The unique ebike transmission requires no battery and is constructed to operate for thousands of hours without requiring service. The Centauri II’s integrated, UL 2271 battery offers 20 to 60 miles of range. The Ananda powertrain delivers 5 levels of power assist up to 28mph, with the unique “Chill Mode” capping the speed at 12 mph with medium power for climbing hills, riding on multiuse paths or in campgrounds and other locations where it’s best to “chill.”

Additionally, the Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt pedals smoothly and silently with very low maintenance, and the short-travel monoshock front suspension provides comfort, control and stability. Shimano hydraulic brakes with 180mm rotors ensure crisp and effective stopping, and the integrated lighting system with hidden writing, Vvolt’s signature shaped headlight, under saddle rear light and reflective graphics provide 360-degree day- and nighttime visibility.

Centauri II Hub – Autoshift3 adjustment

“Centauri II represents the continued evolution of Vvolt’s e-mobility design and a direct response to rider feedback. We’re proud to offer what we’re confident is one of the best commuter ebikes on the market for the rider who wants a solid, dependable and stable riding experience,” said Vvolt Founder and CEO, Kyle Ranson. “The mechanical auto-shift is smooth and effective, the motor offers the perfect amount of power, and we kept the weight down with premium components, integrated lighting and build quality. There’s nothing like the Centauri II on the market.”

The Centauri II is available in Forest Planet (green) and Galactic Storm (silver blue) colorways, comes in three sizes (S/M, M/L, L/XL) and is available for pre-order today with mid September, 2024 shipping. Learn more about the new Centauri II ebike here: https://vvolt.com/products/centauri-ii
