Stratford boys basketball comes from behind to top Rib Lake in season opener

STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team overcame a three-point halftime deficit to pull past Rib Lake 53-48 in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night at Stratford High School.

The game was the Tigers’ season opener.

Stratford shot just 36 percent from the field (16-for-44) and 53 percent at the free throw line (15-for-28), but did just enough to pull out the win.

Ben Barten had 17 points and nine rebounds, Chandler Schmidt scored 12 points, and Lance Heidmann added 10 for the Tigers.

Schmidt made three 3-pointers and Heidmann was 8-for-10 at the free throw line in the victory.

Stratford plays at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Tuesday.
