PICK FRESH STRAWBERRIES AT THIRD-GENERATION FAMILY FARM

Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) It’s berry season and Roehrborn’s Berry Patch is ready for its 50th year in the community.

A third-generation, family-operated farm, owners Erv and Rae Roehrborn and operators Andy and Amanda Roehrborn know how important it is to make a family outing a fun experience.

Erv and Rae have been operating the berry patch for five decades, and before them Erv’s parents, Elmer and Anna Roehrborn, for several years would take strawberries to the hospital to sell, starting in 1946.

“We hope one of our sons will take it over someday,” said Amanda. “We grow the best variety of berries for this area. They have good color, taste, and freezing capability.”

Andy’s favorite part is the tractor work, and Amanda enjoys seeing familiar and new faces every year.

Now open for the 2020 season, the patch is accessible Monday through Saturday 7:30-noon and 4:00-6:00pm, and Sunday 1:00pm-6:00pm. Hand sanitizer is available at the checkouts, and a hand-wash station is available. Staff is also sanitizing bucket handles and tables. Masks and gloves are not required, but visitors are welcome to wear them. Picking will be assigned to every other row, as per usual, which helps maintain the 6-foot distancing recommendations.

Families can pick berries at the family’s farm two miles west of Marshfield, off of HWY H. Pre-picked berries are also available at Weber’s Farm Store from 9-1 p.m. Children are welcome, but should stay by their parents.

“We have clean rows, friendly people, and lots of red delicious strawberries,” said Amanda, who enjoys meeting customers that come year after year and seeing new customers for the first time. “Come for great tasting berries and for families to make memories picking berries as a yearly tradition.”

Prices are $10.00 for pick-your-own and $16.00 for pre-picked. Five-quart pails are available for use, or customers are welcome to bring their own. They accept cash or check for payment.

“We are happy to have everyone bring their children along with them to the patch to enjoy the experience picking and tasting fresh strawberries,” said Amanda. “Come and enjoy the fresh air and country atmosphere.”
