Marshfield (OnFocus) – Wood County Sheriff’s Department has issued an update in the fatal dump truck accident on June 14. On June 17, 2020 at 7:46 p.m., 4 year-old Dominic Weichart died from injuries he sustained in the crash. Courtney L Weichart (28, Manitowoc, WI) and William P Walsdorf (32, Manitowoc, WI) were also in the car. Walsdorf was pronounced dead on-scene and Courtney Weichart was medically transported. Ronald Gollon, age 70, was in the dump truck.
On Sunday, June 14, 2020, at approximately 11:59 a.m., the Wood County Dispatch Center received a call of a crash between a dump truck and a passenger car at the intersection of State Highway 73 and State Highway 186 in the town of Sigel.
During the initial investigation, deputies learned a southbound dump truck on State Highway 186 failed to yield from the stop sign for a westbound vehicle on State Highway 73. The three occupants of the passenger car were entrapped. The female driver and juvenile rear passenger sustained serious injuries and were transported to Marshfield Medical Center by Life Link and Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance respectively. The front occupant in the passenger car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Wisconsin State Patrol, Vesper Fire Department, United Ambulance, Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance, Life Link Ill, Wood County Highway Department, and the Wood County Coroner.
