At 12 years and thriving, Prairie Run Dental has added a new addition to its building.

The extra space has allowed the orthodontic department to expand from three chairs to five, and add a hygiene room and dedicated space for taking high quality photos of patients before and after treatment.

Dr. Barry Cole and wife Amy Cole, Administrator, have been in practice for 18 years, a dozen of them at the Prairie Run subdivision on the north side of Marshfield.

“Prairie Run Dental provides people an opportunity for personal care,” said Amy Cole. “We really make an effort at getting to know our patient and making them feel like they’re under good care.”

More space has allowed the business to take on more patients. Passionate about dental care, Dr. Barry eventually hopes to “retire” into Orthodontics and bring on a general dentist. “He loves the results. He loves the patient interaction,” said Cole.

He once worked as a rocket scientist launching commercial satellites into space before turning to dentistry. “Someone could literally say, my dentist used to be a rocket scientist!” she added.

Dr. Barry is working toward achieving Diplomate status in 2019 with the American Orthodontic Society, the highest possible standard in Orthodontics. The status requires 500 hours of coursework and ten completed cases to present before a board.

At Prairie Run Dental, patients undergoing Orthodontic care, young and old, typically stop in once a month for adjustment. Another, quicker, option available in-house is Minor Tooth Movement for those who might not need a full set of braces but require adjustment for some of their teeth.

With assistance from the new photography studio, patients can see their progress with before and after photos of their treatment and take an 8×10 photo for home. A photo gallery is available on the website. “The results are really significant,” said Cole. When treatment lasts years, staff gets to know their patients well. “It’s like they become part of the family…We really get to know the patient a lot during ortho.”
