Dorothy E. Konop

Dorothy E. Konop, 90, of Marshfield and formerly of Auburndale, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Auburndale, where the visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Rev. Murali Anand Rayappan will officiate.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dorothy was born on February 28, 1930, in Wausau, to Paul and Lydia (Krause) Greening and was a graduate of Spencer High School. She was united in marriage to Arnold P. Konop on May 28, 1949, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield. He died on June 7, 2006.

Dorothy and Arnold had farmed in the Auburndale area. In addition to farming and raising her family, Dorothy had been employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield, and then at Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids until her retirement.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, and shopping. She was always a giving person and doing for others.

She is survived by her children Diane Peters of Wisconsin Rapids, twin daughters Susan Konop of Wisconsin Rapids and Sandra Konop of Plover, Debra (Dan) Scheider of De Pere, and Alan (Jane) Konop of Auburndale. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by three sisters Beverly (Don) Sleeter, Anita Hein, and Eleanor Coop.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son George and daughter Charlene, both in infancy, a grandson, Brandon Scheider, and siblings, Adeline Seefeldt, Marvin Greening, Evelyn Lynn, Irmagard Best, Jean Donovan, and Arlene Kroening.
