Northland Pines Soccer Runs Past Antigo

This game was slotted to be a battle and the game got more interesting with our starting keeper out with an injury.  We possessed early and Antigo did a great job with the offside trap.  Senior Cody Vojta always had one to two players on him but 5 and 1/2 minutes in he remained poised and delayed allowing the defenders to converge on him laying off to an rushing AJ Muench who found the back of the net.  We possessed the ball but we’re pulled offside a great deal and the ones we would get through their athletic and active keep would scoop up or boot away spoiling any threat. Late in the half Tony Gaetano solved the problem and played a nicely weighted ball to Cody Vojta who forced the keeper to make the first move and found the back of the net.  Half ended 2-0 Pines.  The team made some adjustments and looked to slow down attack and posses until the pass was there. 2 minutes into half right back made an overlap run getting a perfectly timed ball from Tyler Vojta and Iland Sheperdson was behind the defense on a breakaway and as a result was found in the box earning a penalty kick. Cody Vojta punched it in the back of the net.  Antigo pushed back and are a hard working team. In the 65 minute AJ Muench stepped up on a errant pass and dribbled through the defense with a shot in the bottom left corner. 6 minutes later Guilherme Amirez Fonseca took a rebound from Jackson Olejniczak.  Working hard to the final whistle Freshman forward Casey Congleton fought off a foul and outworking the defender punching the ball over to Jackson who had a one one zero and tapped it past the lunging keeper in the past 18 seconds of the game sealing a 6-0 victory.
