MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Marshfield will take center stage in Wisconsin Legion Baseball this summer as Jack Hackman Field hosts the 2026 AAA State Legion Baseball Tournament from July 28 through August 1.

The five-day tournament will bring eight of the state’s top Legion teams to Marshfield, along with hundreds of players, coaches, family members, and fans. For Nicolas Kumm, board member, the event is a chance to highlight not only the city’s baseball tradition, but also the people and places that make Marshfield stand out.

“Hosting the AAA State Legion Baseball Tournament is a tremendous honor for Marshfield,” Kumm said, adding that the event reflects “the strong baseball tradition that exists throughout our community.”

As visitors arrive from across Wisconsin, the tournament is expected to create activity throughout the city. Teams and families will stay in local hotels, visit restaurants, stop at shops, and experience Marshfield during one of the busiest baseball weeks of the summer.

That impact goes beyond a few days of games.

“It creates an opportunity for visitors from across Wisconsin to see firsthand what makes Marshfield such a welcoming and vibrant community,” said Kumm.

On the field, the tournament will provide a high-level stage for young athletes who have spent years developing their skills. Legion Baseball has always been about more than the final score. It gives players the chance to compete while learning teamwork, leadership, discipline, sportsmanship, and community service.

The players competing this summer represent that commitment. Many have balanced baseball with work, family, and other activities, earning the opportunity to represent their communities on a statewide stage.

For Marshfield’s team, the setting makes the experience even more meaningful. Competing for a state championship is special on its own, but doing it at home, in front of family, friends, former players, and longtime supporters, adds another level of excitement.

“There is something special about competing in front of family, friends, former players, and community supporters,” Kumm said. “A home crowd brings energy and excitement that players remember for a lifetime.”

Behind the scenes, hosting a state tournament has required months of preparation. Volunteers, coaches, players, sponsors, community organizations, and businesses have all contributed to the effort. Planning has included facility improvements, tournament logistics, sponsorships, volunteer recruitment, hospitality planning, and coordination with Wisconsin American Legion Baseball.

The preparation is a tremendous team effort made possible by strong community support. That support will continue to play an important role once the tournament begins. Local businesses are expected to see increased traffic throughout the week, especially hotels, restaurants, retail stores, convenience stores, and entertainment venues. The tournament is also a chance for Marshfield to make a lasting impression on visitors who may return in the future.

Community members can help by attending games and creating a championship atmosphere at Jack Hackman Field. A strong crowd will support the players while also showing visiting teams and families the pride Marshfield takes in its baseball tradition.

“We encourage everyone to come out, enjoy some great baseball, and help make this a memorable event for all involved,” Kumm said.

While the tournament will feature some of the best Legion Baseball in Wisconsin, its meaning reaches beyond the competition itself. The tournament is about much more than baseball. It is an opportunity to showcase Marshfield, celebrate youth athletics, and bring people together through a shared love of the game.

The 2026 AAA State Legion Baseball Tournament will be held July 28 through August 1 at Jack Hackman Field in Marshfield.
