Fundraising Event Also Happening This Weekend

LOYAL, WI (OnFocus) – Danielle Benz is busy making apple pies to benefit her friend, Joe Mayenschein of Loyal. Pies are $15 each and all funds raised go towards medical and prosthesis expenses, with Benz donating all the ingredients and her time. The owners of Benz Sawmill Inc. (owned by Brian and Cindy Benz, Danielle’s parents) are going to match all of her pies sales.

“Joe’s been a friend for many years. I knew I wanted to help or donate in some way, but I’m not the creative type to come up with a raffle basket,” said Benz. “I love making apple pies, and normally just do it for family. I thought about the idea all day Sunday (Oct 23) and made my final decision on Monday. I’m just going to do it! So here I am, baking each night this week to fulfill orders!”

Benz is using the apples from her own trees to make the pies. To order, comment on her post or send her a message here. She will arrange a time to deliver. (Apple pies only, no special orders.)

A fundraiser is also being held Saturday, October 29 from 12-6pm at Loyal Sportsman’s Club (W3552 Chickadee Road). Enjoy pulled pork sandwiches, beverages, raffles, and great music.

“Joe’s sister, Judy Suda, is managing a Venmo Account (@Judi-Suda), so if anyone wants to donate but is not able to make it Saturday or if you’re not a pie person you can donate here,” said Benz. “Or you can send a check written out to ‘Benefit for Joe’ to First State Bank, 106 S Main St. Greenwood, WI 54437.”
