First posted by Travis Wilson of wissports.net, the WIAA released a statement clarifying reports from a Green Bay Radio Station that the WIAA had confirmed that fall sports would be advancing as scheduled.
The statement used by the radio station, and then picked up by other media, was an out of context quote from an interview.
“At this point, nothing has been canceled,” the WIAA stated. “That status can change as other virus developments might emerge, and we HOPE kids might return to their schools come fall, and if they do and if schools reopen, we will do our best to have a plan and guidance that our members might choose to use – along with input from state and local health authorities – to decide locally if they can resume their sport and activity programs.”
The WIAA sent the following email regarding an inaccurate report by a radio station yesterday. The inaccurate report said the WIAA announced fall sports were happening for sure. No one from the WIAA ever said that. pic.twitter.com/WUDk11g22i
