Help us choose the best plays of the year! Our staff has cut the list down to the top 10 plays from 2019, and we want YOU to vote for the best.

These are the ten best plays we captured on film this year. If you have one we missed, send it to us a [email protected] for a second list of reader-submitted plays.

Here are the 10 nominees:

Marshfield Overtime Goal vs Antigo

The Marshfield Tigers were down two goals going into the third period. Ryan Krueger and Nick Urban would each score to tie the game and send it to overtime, and 4:17 into the extra period Isaac Wellens found the back of the net to send the Tiger fans home happy.

Marshfield vs DC Everest Late Touchdown and Clinching Interception

The Marshfield Tigers have had a flair for the dramatic this year, none more than against DC Everest. Going down 16-0 in the 2nd quarter, the Tigers would roar back and take the lead with 34 seconds left on a touchdown pass from Joey Goettl to Sam Slade. Joey Goettl would add to the drama with an interception as time expired, not only winning the game the third consecutive VFA West Title for the Tigers.

Tip, Bobble, Interception, Touchdown vs SPASH

The Marshfield Tigers have had an interesting year when it comes to dramatic plays, but what about great plays? Well, this one is up there: Tyler Wein got his hands on the pass, rolled it over his shoulder, and tipped around a few times before hauling it in and running for the pylon for a 33-yard interception return for a touchdown.

The Rare 1-3-2 Double Play

We had a lot of fun bringing you the 17U American Legion State Tournament this summer, and the Marshfield Post 54 Blue Devils pulled off a double play you don’t see every day as they got the 1-3-2 double play on a safety squeeze bunt in a game they led at the time by only one run.

Medford Moves on to Level 3

A game without a single defining play, but which had an amazing interception, a perfect pass play, and what may be the play that left one team with the worst feeling ever, but sent the Medford Raiders on to Level 3 of the football playoffs.

Two Goal Line Stands and a Touchdown to Win It

Spencer/Columbus and Colby played one heck of a game. Colby had to endure not one, but two goal-line stands just to get to the overtime period where they would seal it with a 20 yard run from Tyler Klement to keep pace with Eau Claire Regis in the Cloverbelt Conference Hunt.

Back-to-Back Home Runs, 16 Hours Apart

How does this happen? Well, it takes a lot of lightning. What makes this even more amazing is this was a sectional final that would send Eau Claire North to the WIAA Division 1 State Baseball Tournament. Sam Stang hit a 2-run home run in the final at-bat before lightning and storms would wash out the rest of the night. The game resumed at 12:00 the next day. Two pitches in, and Anthony Pogodzinksi hit the second home run in a row. Eau Claire North would go on to win the Division 1 State Championship.

Three Walkoffs in a Week (Two on Film)

In a dramatic week for the Stratford Tigers Baseball Team, the team started on a Friday with a walk-off against defending state champions Athens. They were walked off on by Marathon on the following Tuesday. On Thursday Stratford returned the favor, scoring the only run of the game on a walk-off single. The Stratford Tigers went on to win the Division 3 State Title this season.

Longest Run in a WIAA State Football Championship Game

In only the second WIAA 8 Player State Championship Game, Luck’s Levi Jensen ended the game with 25 carries, 432 yards, and 5 touchdowns, including this 98-yard touchdown run. Luck would go on to win the State Championship over Newman Catholic 42-27.

Tom Nystrom for Three at the Kohl Center

Was there any doubt this one would be here? Tom Nystrom hit his only basket of the game, but it was a three-pointer to send Columbus Catholic to their first WIAA State Championship Game with a 69-66 win over the Bangor Cardinals.

So cast your vote, and we will reveal the winner on Dec. 26!
