Unusual Occurrence Would Mark Just Fourth Time in Recorded Weather History

Marshfield (OnFocus) – National Weather Service meteorologists are forecasting the possibility of heavy rain in southern Wisconsin Tuesday afternoon or evening and lasting into Wednesday, a result of Tropical Storm Cristobal.

This is only the fourth time that Wisconsin has witnessed a Tropical Storm, with the previous time being Hurricane Gilbert in September 1998. Tropical Storm Cristobal is expected to bring heavy rains and gusting winds.

As of Sunday afternoon, Tropical Storm Cristobal had reached the Louisiana coast with heavy rain and 50 mph winds, according to the National Hurricane Center. The biggest concerns for Wisconsin will be heavy rain and flooding. There is also slight potential for a tornado on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
