Three Things to do This Weekend: Oct. 1, 2, 3

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – October is upon us and along with spooky events towards the end of the month, October has plenty of cool events in the community. Here’s our picks for this weekend:

  1. KIWANIS ENORMOUS PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT (KEEP) (Saturday) – The Kiwanis Club along with local businesses will be hosting the Kiwanis Enormous Equipment Playground (KEEP) for kids of all ages on Oct. 2.The event gives families the opportunity to get a close up view of construction, farming and public service vehicles and equipment. Admission is $3 for ages 1-12 and $6 ages 13 and older and will be held at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

    There will be many fun activities for kids that in the past have included: sifting for “gold”, making concrete cakes, building a brick wall, rock painting, construction bean bag toss, bounce house, balloon creations, enormous sand pile and more.

    Proceeds from the event will be going to local programs for kids involving the Kiwanis Club. Kiwanis Club of Marshfield will also be collecting new and/or slightly used kid’s-teen’s books for their local Kiwanis Reading Program.

    The event will also have concessions and souvenirs available on site.

  2. TURNPIKE GREENHOUSE PET WALK (Saturday) – Bring your dog and walk through the HUGE corn maze at Turn Pike Greenhouse! Other activities include Wagon Rides, Bounce Houses, Petting Zoo and Basket Raffle to support our animals!

  3. NEW BEGINNINGS CONFERENCE (Friday and Saturday) – Faith Fellowship Church of Marshfield will be hosting a “New Beginnings” Conference geared towards those whom may have had trouble in their past and those looking to improve other’s lives.The conference will span two days, Friday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.The cost of registration is $20 which includes a paid lunch on Saturday. Speaking at the event will be Dean Perry, an “agent of change” who has backgrounds in pastoral work, engineering and addictions counseling.

    The conference is for those who have struggled with painful personal problems or self-destructive behaviors such as chemicals, sex, food, work, anxiety, relationships, etc.

    It is also geared towards those in helping ministries and professions looking for effective tools to help family members and others and those who want to make both people and churches safe for hurting people.

    You will also learn the use of Genesis tools for a life of personal growth and spiritual change, how to help others who are stuck in self-destructive behaviors and relationships, how to start and lead a “Change Group” for both personal growth and ministry.

    The event is held at Faith Fellowship Church at 217 W. McMillan St., Marshfield WI 54449.
