Richfield Rural Fire Department Responds to House Fire

No Injuries Reported in House Fire

On Monday at approximately 1:47pm, Richfield Rural Fire Department was notified by Wood County Communications Center of a house filling with smoke at 8367 State Highway 80 in the Town of Richfield. Dispatch advised that everyone had evacuated the house and was waiting outside.

Upon arrival, there was light smoke showing from the rear of the house. Upon further size-up, flames were found coming out of the wall on the outside of the house near the deck on the rear of the house. Fire personnel quickly extinguished the fire.

The cause of the fire is electrical in nature. Assisting with the call was the Town of Rock Fire and Rescue, Cameron Vol. Fire Dept., Arpin Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Central RIT units from Hewitt Area Volunteer Fire Department, Pittsville Fire Company and Vesper Volunteer Fire Department.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department assisted with traffic control since the home was located on a state highway. All units were clear from the scene at 2:56pm.
