Theodore J. “Ted” Lucksted, formerly of Onalaska, passed away peacefully at Wells Nature View, Marshfield, WI, where he resided since 2019.
Ted was born in Newkirk, Oklahoma, March 15, 1936, to Theodore and Earline (Skaggs) Lucksted. The oldest of nine children, the family settled in Mauston, WI, where he graduated high school in 1954.
Being involved in athletics in school, which included football and boxing, prepared him for the rigors of the military. He served with the 11th Airborne spending time in Germany. The old paratrooper was very proud of his service. After the army, he enrolled at Lacrosse State University, where he met a girl from Kona, Hawaii. Ted and Kim married on June 10, 1960, and were together until Kim’s passing in 2013.
Ted’s greatest gift was his ability to make people comfortable and laugh.
Ted is survived by his sons, Steve (Holley) of Tampa, FL, Phil (Jill) of Marshfield, WI, grandchildren, Kyle (UyenThi) Tran Myhre of Minneapolis, MN, Brad (Allie) Lucksted of DePere, WI, Rebecca Lucksted of Fort Worth, TX, and Jared (Micah) Lucksted of Phoenix, AZ, one brother, Bob, sisters Linda, Sandy, Mary, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted’s family would like to thank the staff at Wells Nature View Assisted Living, and St. Croix Hospice for their superior service and care.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
