North Wood County Historical Society Seeks Non-Food Gingerbread Items for Holiday Display at the Historic Upham House
MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – As the holiday season approaches, the North Wood County Historical Society is inviting the local community to participate in a festive and historic celebration at the Upham House. The Society is requesting the loan of ceramic, wooden, plastic, paper – or any other nonfood material – gingerbread-themed items and collections for a special holiday display, featuring the theme of gingerbread in all its delightful forms.
The Upham House, a cherished historical landmark, will be adorned in holiday splendor centered around this year’s theme of “All Things Gingerbread.” Individuals within the community are encouraged to lend their gingerbread creations for public viewing from November to January 2024. Items such as gingerbread people, houses, barns, villages, and even gingerbread architecture are welcome for display.
“We are excited to infuse the Upham House with the warmth and charm of gingerbread delights this holiday season,” expressed Kim Krueger, Coordinator/Collections Manager at the North Wood County Historical Society. “We invite the community to be part of this joyous occasion by sharing their gingerbread creations and collections for everyone to enjoy.”
Those willing to contribute and lend their non-food gingerbread items for the display are kindly asked to contact the North Wood County Historical Society to arrange a suitable drop-off time and date. The deadline for submissions is November 20, in preparation for the Annual Meeting and Holiday Potluck, ensuring all displays are ready for the event.
The much-anticipated open house is scheduled for December 2 and 3 from 10:00am – 3:00pm, providing an opportunity for the public to revel in the festive atmosphere of the decorated Upham House and admire the creative displays.
“We eagerly anticipate a delightful showcase of gingerbread-themed creations that will bring joy and merriment to all who visit the Upham House during this holiday season,” added Krueger.
