Data analysis: The Most Foul-mouthed MLB Fandoms Revealed (based on an analysis of 1 million comments)
With the 2025 MLB season in full swing, VegasInsider has analyzed the subreddits of all 30 MLB fandoms to find out which fans are the most polite and on the contrary, which fandoms are the most foul-mouthed.

Since you have covered a similar data story in the past, I thought you might find our latest data useful.

At first, a sample of comments from the subreddits of the MLB fandoms was collected (with a minimum of 15,000 comments per fandom) and subsequently it was analyzed how much % of their comments included swear words.

According to an analysis of 1.2 million comments:

  • Oakland Athletics were found to be the most foul-mouthed fandom since 6.51% of the comments on their subreddit included swear words

  • Cleveland Guardians turned out to be the second most foul-mouthed MLB fandom (6.06% of their comments included swear words) followed by Miami Marlins in third place with 5.91% of their comments including swear words

  • On the other hand, Cincinnati Reds were found to be the most polite fandom since only 2.86% of their comments included swear words

  • The second and third most polite fandoms turned out to be Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs, respectively – only 3% of the comments of Philadelphia Phillies included swear words while only 3.2% of the comments of Chicago Cubs included swear words
