OnFocus Season Preview
Coaching staff: HC-Jon Long
Varsity Assts:  Tim Albert and Jeremy Baalke
JV Coaches:  Kezleigh Vacho and Amanda Nowak
Key returners: Return all 7 varsity players.  2 seniors: Khianna Vacho and Bryn Baalke
4 juniors: Claire Albert (all conference in 2022/23), Gracie Long, Lydia Ziert, Caylie Swan
1 sophomore: Freya Alberg (all conference in 2022/23)
Key newcomers: added 4 freshmen to the roster, all 4 will play lots of JV minutes, 1-2 could see a few varsity minutes.
Conference outlook: We expect Lakeland, Mosinee and Rhinelander to be at the top.  Ourselves, Antigo, Medford and Northland Pines should all be competitive with one another.  Overall a very competitive conference.
Keys to your success this season: Last season our team had success with our outside shooting and our freshmen post player, Freya Alberg really came on as the season progressed. We expect Freya to continue to develop for us in the post on both ends and open things up for our perimeter shooters.  We are capable of getting out from beyond the arc with a couple of games with 10+ 3’s.  If we can reduce our turnovers and be consistent on defense, Freya and our perimeter threats can allow us more success than last season.

Behind the scenes: Who are some of the people that help your program succeed?

Our entire coaching staff puts in the work to get the girls prepared.  Our team manager Izzy also is a huge help to us on game day.  Our new athletic director Ryan Flynn deserves credit as well putting in a lot of time on the little things for our program.  Lastly the parents for carting the girls around and supporting the coaching staff!

Coach’s comments: anything else you’d like to share?
I look to Claire Albert, Bryn Baalke, Gracie Long, Khianna Vacho to continue to be leaders on the floor.  Freya will continue to be a force as she gets older and can dominate when she wants on both ends.  Our Jv players have really bought in and are putting in the work.  Our future in Tomahawk is bright.
