WOOD COUNTY, WI (OnFocus) – Residents and agricultural producers in Wood County will have a convenient and safe opportunity to dispose of hazardous waste materials this year during the 2025 Clean Sweep events. Hosted by local authorities, the events are set to take place in two locations across the county.

The first Clean Sweep event is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Marshfield Agricultural Research Station, located at 2615 Yellowstone Drive in Marshfield. The second event will be held on Saturday, September 13, during the same hours, at the Saratoga Town Hall, 1120 State Hwy 73 in Wisconsin Rapids.

The initiative allows for the free disposal of a wide range of household and agricultural hazardous waste items.

Accepted materials include:

  • Automotive fluids
  • Batteries
  • Cooking oil
  • Degreasers
  • Drain cleaner
  • Paints and paint thinners
  • Pesticides
  • Fertilizers

However, organizers note that certain items will not be accepted, such as electronics, pressurized cylinders, explosives, ammunition, and medical waste including sharps and pharmaceuticals.

Participants are reminded to ensure all items are clearly labeled and securely contained, and to transport materials upright. Unlabeled or unidentified items, as well as any waste that cannot be safely or affordably processed by the event contractor, may be refused.

For more information, residents can call 715-421-8440 or scan the QR code available on event materials.

The 2025 Clean Sweep reflects Wood County’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and public safety by providing accessible disposal options for materials that could otherwise pose risks to health and the environment.
