WAUTOMA, WI (OnFocus) – On October 9th, 2025 at approximately 1:18pm the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a phone call about a potential concern about a youth at Wautoma High School. The caller asked if she needed to call City Police directly or if the Dispatch Center could connect her. She was advised that the School Resource Officer was at the High School and that she could contact the school directly. She thanked the dispatcher and disconnected the call.

At approximately 1:26pm the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office received a second call from the same caller as earlier. She advised that she had called Chief Mott twice, Sgt Rosin twice and the high school and no one was answering. At this time she advised that the student may have a weapon. The dispatcher asked if the caller had contacted SRO Hendrickson. Instead of contacting officers via radio, the dispatcher attempted to patch the caller through to SRO Hendrickson.

At approximately 1:28pm the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from Chief Mott in regard to the same incident, as he was out of the area and had been called about the incident at the school. He was advised that the call had just been patched through to SRO Hendrickson. Chief Mott relayed to the dispatcher that there was a student that might have guns at the school. Mott asked if it had been relayed that guns were missing from the house. Mott advised that the suspect wanted to shoot law enforcement and provided the juvenile’s name. Mott requested that dispatch notify officers.

At 1:29pm Waushara County Dispatch requested Deputy Nelson respond to the school for a possible weapon in the school. Deputy Clark also advised he would respond. Deputy Weber advised at 1:30pm that he would respond to the school.

At that time Sgt Rosin, who was handling another call at the time, inquired as to what was going on at the high school. He was advised that there was a possible weapon inside the school and that the department was awaiting more information from SRO Hendrickson. At approximately 1:32pm SRO Hendrickson advised that he had the juvenile in custody and advised responding officers could respond to the office.

Deputy Weber assisted in transporting the juvenile to Wautoma PD for them to continue their investigation into the incident. It was later confirmed by Wautoma PD that threats were made and the student was not in possession of any weapons. Sheriff Walter Zuehlke thanked SRO Hendrickson, Wautoma High School Staff, and Waushara County Human Services for their actions.
