Structure Fire Destroys Home in Town of Seneca

VESPER, WI (OnFocus) – The Vesper Fire Department was dispatched at 7:04 p.m. on April 23, 2025, to a structure fire on Haferman Road in the Town of Seneca, Wood County.

Upon arrival, crews found a single-family home fully engulfed in flames, with multiple vehicles burning in the driveway. An adult male occupant sustained burn injuries and was transported to Marshfield Medical Center. No other injuries were reported. Tragically, multiple pets perished in the fire.

Vesper firefighters were assisted by departments from Port Edwards, Nekoosa, Wisconsin Rapids, Rudolph, Arpin, and Pittsville.

Additional support came from United Ambulance, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Wood County Central RIT, WE Energies, Wisconsin Rapids Water & Light Commission, and Wood County Dispatch.

The home, its contents, and multiple vehicles were declared a total loss. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced occupants.

The fire was determined to have started from a motorcycle in the garage. Fire crews remained on scene for approximately three hours.
