PITTSVILLE, WI (OnFocus) – A new community space honoring the memory of former student Lucy Vanatta will officially open on August 26 with a ribbon cutting and open house at Pittsville Elementary School.

The ceremony for Lucy’s Community Garden and Outdoor Classroom will begin at 12:30 p.m. at 5459 Elementary Ave, followed by an open house from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. The event will include food from the Panther Den and an opportunity to walk through the new garden and classroom area.

Lucy, a Pittsville student, passed away in a car accident just over a year ago. In response, her family, along with teachers and staff at the school, created the space in her honor.

Organizers invite the public and press to attend and help celebrate the beauty and meaning of the project.
