GREENWOOD, WI (OnFocus) – Greenwood celebrated a key infrastructure milestone on Tuesday, November 18, as community members, local officials, and project partners gathered for the ribbon cutting of the new County Highway G Bridge. The event marked the official opening of the updated crossing over the Black River.
The new bridge replaces the long standing overhead steel truss structure that had served the area for more than 80 years. Built in 1938, the original bridge became a familiar sight for residents and travelers. It underwent improvements fifty years later, including a new deck and fresh paint, but ongoing wear and increased transportation needs signaled the end of its service life.
The new structure was built to provide a safer, more reliable route for motorists while supporting modern traffic demands. Its completion represents an important investment in the region’s transportation network.
The Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau organized the ceremony, which drew attendees who came to recognize both the legacy of the former bridge and the promise of the new one. With the ribbon cut and the roadway open, the updated bridge now begins its role in carrying traffic across the Black River for years to come.
