Rib Lake Scores 5 in the 6th, Downs Chequamegon, Clinch Share of Conference Title

Rib Lake had one hit in the first 5 innings, but exploded in the 6th to get a 5-1 win and clinch a share of the Marawood North Conference Title.

Chequamegon would get on the board first when Isaiah Bourgard hit a single, driving in Corbin Phelps.

The pitchers would take over for the next 5 innings, but Rib Lake would break out in the bottom of the 6th. Brady Heiser gave Rib Lake the lead with a 3-RBI double. Blake Henderson and Tyler Matyka would get back-to-back RBI singles.

Chequamegon would get a couple of baserunners on, but Talon Scheithauer would pick off Mark Oskvarek at 2nd to end the game.

Scheithauer would go the distance on the mound for the win, giving up 1 earned run, on 9 hits, 0 walks, and 10 strikeouts.

Marcus Purdy got the start for Chequameong, going 5 innings, giving up 5 earned runs, on 4 hits, 5 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Phelps would pitch the final 1 inning, giving up 0 runs, on 2 hits and 1 strikeout.

Rib Lake clinched a share of the conference title, they can clinch an outright conference title with a win or an Athens loss to Prentice on Tuesday.
