Pittsville Punches Ticket To State

The Pittsville Panthers punched their ticket to state with a 2-1 win over Blair Taylor in the Sectional Semifinal, then a 13-3 5 inning win over Highland in the Sectional Final.

In the sectional semifinal, Blair-Taylor got out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a K Trapp RBI groundout.

Pittsville would tie it up in the bottom of the first on a Grant Rademan RBI double.

Pittsville would take the lead in the bottom of the 4th on a Kash Ostermann fielder’s choice.

Logan Zickert got the start, going 6.2 innings, giving up 1 earned run, on 3 hits, 3 walks, and 13 strikeouts. Dawson Luther #2 got the final out on a strikeout.

In the sectional final, Pittsville rode a 5-run 1st and 7 7-run 3rd inning to the win.

Zickert led the way at the plate, going 2-3 with a home run, a walk, a run scored, and 2 RBI. Dawson Luther went 2-4, with a triple, a double, a run scored, and 2 RBI. Daryn Luther went 1-2, with a double, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

Ben Friday got the start, going all 5 innings, giving up 3 runs, 1 earned, on 3 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts.

The Pittsville Panthers advance to the WIAA State Baseball Tournament, State Semifinal games to be held on Tuesday at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton.
