Paul L. Degenhardt, age 97, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where a gathering for family and friends will be from 10:00 am until service time. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Deacon Ray Draeger will officiate. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by The American Legion Post 54 and the State of Wisconsin Military Honor Guard.
Paul was born on August 28, 1927, in Loyal, Wisconsin, to Leo and Mary (Binder) Degenhardt. He attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School and Loyal High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from November 1945 until his honorable discharge in January 1947. He married Elaine M. Gotter on November 16, 1948, at St. Anthony’s Catholic church, Loyal. She died on November 15, 2006.
Paul had been employed as a truck driver at Packaging Corporation of America, Colby, and then at Tuscarora Plastics in Pardeeville until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, and was a Packer and NASCAR fan. He was a member of the American Legion Post 54.
He is survived by his daughters, Dixie Degenhardt and Sandy Bielen, both of Marshfield and a son-in-law, Wayne Blawat and former son-in-law, Dave Bielen. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Nick (Erica) Blawat, Pat (Suzy) Blawat, Brian (Jennifer) Degenhardt, and Keith (Stephanie) Bielen, and seven great grandchildren, Addison and Jack Blawat, Lauren and Ben Blawat, Braiden and Alex Degenhardt, and Dylan Bielen. He is further survived by sisters, Dorothy Rottscheit of Marshfield, and Barb Lynsky of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Debbie Blawat, brothers, Norbert and Lawrence Degenhardt, and sisters, Madeline Bell, Alberta Kohl, and Rose Gregorich.
