Mary was born March 12, 1932 at the home farm in the town of Norway, Racine County to Julian J. and Mary F. (Kosarog) Popp. She attended Waterford schools, graduating in 1950. She was united in marriage to Jerry Ignatowski April 4, 1951 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Waterford, WI. Together they raised seven children.

Mary first and foremost was a mom with a huge love of her farm life. As a way to keep an eye on her own children, the neighborhood kids were also under her watchful eye, all were welcome and cared for along with the chickens and ducks and any other critter she could get away with. With six kids in tow, she and Jerry moved from Wind Lake, WI to Lindsey, WI to begin her own “real” farm. Together they milked cows, raised beef, rabbits, pigs and chickens and ducks. Along with the farm, a one acre garden and maintaining the buildings kept them all busy. Once the children were grown and some of them gone, Mary went back to school and became the accessor for the Towns of Rock and Cameron and performed real estate appraisals. After the farm she and Jerry, and new son Chris, moved to Pittsville and began Rock Ranch, a discount sales store. Upon retirement Mary again focused on her children, and now grandchildren. Watching them grow included attending skating shows, concerts, art shows and all the events grandmas enjoy.

She is survived by four sons: Jerry A. (Kathy) Ignatowski of Wind Lake, Greg (Patty) Ignatowski of Vesper, Jeff (Grace) Ignatowski of Pittsville, and Chris (Trina) Ignatowski of Arpin; two daughters Mary (Pete) Schill of Pittsville, and Debbie (Gary) DeWilde of Vesper. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren: Beth (Scott) Hastreiter, Becky (Nick) Stenson, Melanie Laur, Nicholas (Sarah Wadzinski) Ignatowski, Tyler (Emily) Ignatowski, Simon Ignatowski, Jeremy (Kami) Schill, Jennifer (Lonny Damewood) Keding, Jolene (Carl) Solverud, Jody (Amos) Wolf, Amy (Anthony) White, Amanda (Jesse Gregory) Meyer, Sarah Roach, Donald (Jazmine) DeWilde, Cassandra DeWilde, Abigail (Tyler) Tesch, Ashley DeWilde, Jacob (Jessica) Ignatowski, Marie (Mike) Rattle, and Isis Ignatowski. Mary is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren, and 7 sisters: Julie Moede, Rose Warner, Florence Chauklin, Ann Antick, Agnes Brenton, Rita Feirn, and Theresa Lancor and a plethora of nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her son Eugene in 1981, a granddaughter Kayla in 2015, brothers: Joseph, Anthony, & Mike Popp and sisters Margaret Dezek and Jenny Radtke

The family would like to thank the staff of Three Oaks Health Center for the kindness, compassion and care she received during her stay along with the loving care from the Compassus Hospice caretakers.
