Mary Ann Brinkmann, age 84, of Marshfield, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 28 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. Rev. Eric Mashak will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mary Ann was born April 9, 1941 in Willard to John and Eva (Pietka) Smrecek. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1959 and later attended the Eau Claire Beauty Culture School. In 1989, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She worked at Elaine’s Beauty Salon in Marshfield until she married Michael Huettl on April 18, 1964 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. She managed a busy home in Marshfield, raising six children, running a home daycare, and providing mobile beauty services for clients, friends, and family. After CNA training, she worked at the Marshfield Living Center. Mary Ann was a devoted member St. John’s Catholic Church and the PCCW. Mary Ann and Michael enjoyed attending their children’s school and sporting events, visiting relatives, and playing cards with friends and family.
After 26 happy years of marriage, Michael tragically died from cancer in 1990. In 1996, Mary Ann married Charles Brinkmann. Mary Ann and Chuck enjoyed family events, traveling, and playing games with friends. In 2019, Mary Ann and Chuck moved to Aster House in Marshfield. Chuck died from COVID in 2020.
Mary Ann is survived by her six children and nine grandchildren: son Brian (Mary) Huettl of Northbrook, IL, and their children Jackson, Zoë, and Emma; son Chris (Sara) Huettl of Marshfield, and their children Maggie, Isaac, and Sam; daughter Lynn (Lawrence) Weippert of Palatine, IL, and their son Jacob; son Terrance Huettl (Tracey Whitesell) of Moorestown, NJ, and their children Elizabeth and Michael; daughter Sara Huettl (Jerry Carynski) of Chicago, IL; and son Paul Huettl of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by her brother, Tom (Marlene) Smrecek.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by Michael and Chuck, her parents, four sisters (Josephine Nelson, Theresa Fries, Marge Fields, and Wilma Flaherty), and three brothers (John Smrecek, Daniel Smrecek, and Ralph Smrecek).
The family thanks the staff at Aster House, Melisande and Shirley from Senior Social Services, and the staff at Compassus for their compassionate care of Mary Ann.
The family will forever be grateful to Mary Ann’s son, Chris, for his endless dedication to his mother, visiting her daily, managing her care, and providing vital emotional support.
Memorials may be designated in her name to St. John’s Church and Shirley’s House of Hope, both in Marshfield.
