Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

George was born on February 16, 1941, in Wausau, to Frank and Bertha (Hafenbreadl) Heil. He married Catherine A. Pankratz on May 28, 1966, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield.

George was a man known for many things throughout his 84 plus years on earth. One of the most prominent things he will be remembered for is his dedication and care for his grandchildren. From being able to take them on vacation, working on home repairs, helping sew projects with Cathy or just sitting and putting together coin books. He was a man who found a way to create meaningful relationships with them all. George worked various jobs over the years but driving truck was his pride and joy. He hauled wood, milk, fertilizer, seed, feed, lime, and traveled to 49 states. Delaware was the only place he didn’t see. He always wanted to see what was over the next hill or curve in the road. He helped with sewing projects for Cathy’s business and replaced miles worth of zippers in coats and jackets.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cathy, and their children, Cheryl (Patrick) Sheridan of Thorp, WI, Renee (Bob) Serre of Mequon, WI, Mike (Donna) Heil of Stratford, WI, and Kristine (Justin) Howe of Pigeon Falls, WI. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ashley Heil, Aaron Pospyhalla, Jenna Heil, Paul Moore, Jr., Logan Serre, Ethan Howe, and Nicolas Moore. He is further survived by siblings, Donna (Bob) Eckes of Greenwood, WI, Lois Murray of River Falls, WI, Dale (Karen) Heil and Gary (Judy) Heil, all of Stratford, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Alan Murray.
