Fred D. Hjalmer, 77, Pittsville, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville, with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 153 – Pittsville at the funeral home.
Fred was born on October 4, 1947 in Rosholt, South Dakota to Dennis and Cleo (Springer) Hjalmer. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Fred later met Marlene Steinbach, and they spent 30+ years together. They were united in marriage on February 13, 2006.
Fred worked as a furniture craftsman. He loved watching sports – especially the Brewers, Packers, Badgers, and Bucks. He also enjoyed traveling out west to Montana and horse rescues in North Dakota.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene, daughter, Rene Toennes (James), son, Brad (Camille) Tiegs, and grandchildren, Nolan, Caden, Lillian, and Scarlett. He is further survived by his sister, Kristi (Ron) Siegel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Karen Marie.
