Elizabeth J. Bornbach, age 90, of Stratford peacefully passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Elizabeth “Bette” was born on February 23, 1935, the daughter of Albert & Irene (Aschebrock) Riehle of Stratford, WI.  The seventh of ten children.  She grew up in Stratford until her marriage to Alvin Bornbach.  They worked on a dairy farm together.  Bette graduated from Stratford High School.  She was united in marriage to Alvin H. Bornbach on August 17, 1957 on their farm near Rozellville.  They lived and raised their family on this farm.

Bette worked at Roddis, Figi’s and the Marshfield Canning factory.  She loved gardening and playing Sheepshead.  She brought a smile to people’s faces when she offered her homemade baked goods, especially her pies.

Bette is survived by her husband of 67 years and their four children: Linda Bornbach of Green Bay, Debbie (Scott) Thomson of Neenah, Tom (Teresa) Bornbach of Stratford, and Christy (Mike) Strampp of Chilhowie, VA.  She is survived by six grandchildren: Alan & Steven Thomson, Grant Bornbach, Alex, Tyler & Brittany Strampp; three great-grandchildren: Pierce & Cole Thomson, Ezra Thomson; one step granddaughter: Rian (Jeremy) Rahm;  three step great-grandchildren: Pax, Devyn & Taelyn Rahm.  Bette is further survived by her brother: James (Lois) Riehle.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Albert & Irene Riehle; five sisters: Gert (Richard) McColloch, Jean Riehle, Mary “Joan” (Donald) Beining, Dorothy (Raymond) Guldan, Ann “Carol” Leonhardt and three brothers: Arnold (Helen) Riehle, Pete (Shirley) Riehle, Marvin (Barbara) Riehle.

Bette’s family would like to extend a special note of thanks to the staff at Vita Care in Stratford.  They would also like to express their gratitude to Compassus Hospice.

A celebration of Bette’s life will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Stratford Heritage Barn, 208268 State Hwy 97, Stratford.  Dress is casual and food/drinks will be provided.
