Earl Henry Giese Jr., 87, of Marshfield, WI, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Marshfield Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

The funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield, WI, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Earl was born on March 14th, 1938, in the Township of Linwood, Portage County, WI, to Earl H. Giese Sr. and Erma C. Lutz and raised on a dairy farm in the township of Richfield, WI. He graduated in 1956 from Marshfield Senior High School where he was very active in 4-H. He served in the WI National Guard and attended UW River Falls.

On September 15, 1962, he married the love of his life, Darleene Hamus, in Auburndale, WI.

He was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church where he was on numerous boards, performed lay ministry and served communion to shut-ins. His strong Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life.

Earl was a salesman at heart. He and Darleene owned Flavor Crisp Chicken and had the first fast food delivery service in Marshfield. He later owned Capital Furniture and Carpet. He then got his Real Estate license and was a successful realtor in Marshfield for many years. He ended his working life as the used car manager at V&H Inc.

One of Earl’s proudest accomplishments was getting his private pilot license. In later life, he restored a 1956 Dodge which was a challenge he enjoyed immensely. He also enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his family and friends fishing and hunting. Earl was an accomplished accordion player and with his friend Jerry Holubets, played many events in the area and up north at deer camp.

Earl will be remembered best as a man of his word, someone who would listen to anyone’s problems and be a friend when needed. To his family, he will be remembered as the most loving husband, father, grand and great-grandfather anyone could ever want.

Earl is survived by his loving wife, Darleene; children, Renee (Dean) Griepentrog of Marshfield, Jill (Sam) Heier of Marshfield, and John (Jeni) Giese of Marshfield.

He is further survived by his sister, Sharla (James) Van Dyke of Florida; his brother, David (Patricia) Giese of Minnesota; brother-in-law, Bill Dieringer; sister-in-law, Patricia Hamus; grandchildren, Brittaney (Anthony) Westley, Reba Griepentrog, Lukas Griepentrog and Tanner Giese. Also, his bonus grandchildren, Travis (Bobbi) Griepentrog, Jake (Mckenzie) Heier, Megan (Rob) Miroslaw, Liz Heier; many great-grandchildren; Roy Westley; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister-in-law, Mona Dieringer; brother-in-law, Floyd Hamus; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Willard and Janet Kiehl.

The family would like to thank the staff at Marshfield Hospital for their kindness and care of Earl, and Pastors Donn Radde and Chris Schwanz for their spiritual care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School are welcome.
