Dorothy L. “Dort” Jensen, age 72, of Marshfield, passed away late Thursday, May 15, 2025, in Marshfield, WI, surrounded by her family after a long battle with endometrial cancer. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E Veterans Pkwy. in Marshfield). The Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Dorothy was born December 22, 1952, the daughter of Clifford Fletcher and Dorothy Fletcher (Gilles) in Two Harbors, MN. She married her ever entertaining, Dennis “Denny” Jensen, on April 9, 1973, in the midst of the snowstorm of a century!
Dort wore many hats through the years; she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s trucking company most of her married life. She also worked as an EKG technician. Furthermore, she started a greenhouse to share her love of gardening with her family and friends. Dort was a friend to many and never turned down an opportunity to spend more time with those she loved.
Dort was most proud of the family she and Denny created and molded through the years. Her children knew that they could come to her with their troubles and she’d lean in with a compassionate ear and remind them that she hadn’t ALWAYS been so perfect. She would reflect with them and never failed to leave a person in a better mindset than they had started. She always worked hard and was always happy to get her hands dirty and worked alongside her Denny; whether cutting wood, working on the semi, or completing renovation projects at their home.
Unfortunately, this loving, empathetic woman fell victim to cancer. She fought a courageous battle and was rewarded with remission for an entire year. She savored this year and celebrated in all of the ways she could until its unfortunate return. This amazing woman will be missed by the crew that loved her. The family would like to thank the oncology department at Marshfield Clinic and Heartland Hospice team for helping keep her as comfortable as possible in her final days.
Dort is lovingly survived by her children, Steven (Tammy) Jensen, Kevin (Tammy) Jensen, and Tonya (Joshua) Manning. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Kody (Teyanna) Jensen, Harley Jensen, Austin (Hollie) Jensen, Natalee Jensen (Gabe Mapes), William Jensen, Laycee Glover, Silas Manning, Kiptyn Manning, and Layken Manning. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Harper Jensen, Waylon Jensen, and Henry Jensen. She is also further survived by her siblings, Jerry Fletcher, Cindy (Edward) Brandis, Scott (Mary-Jo) Fletcher.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Jensen; and her parents, Clifford & Dorothy Fletcher. She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Mark Fletcher and Travis Fletcher.
