The Milwaukee Academy of Science used a huge second half to win the WIAA Division 3 State Boys Basketball Title.
In a game that was expected to showcase two of the better offenses in the state, it was the defense that ruled the early parts of the first half.
But the offenses would take over late in the first half and into the second, capped with an 18-3 run for the Milwaukee Academy of Science to get out to an almost insurmountable lead.
With 2 minutes left and the Novas up 7, a few misques allowed Freedom to hit a few layups and cut the lead to 1, but a big transition layup from Amare Jackson sealed the win.
The Novas were led by Devin Brown with 17, Jamarion Batemon added 16, Jackson added 10.
Freedom was led by Drew Kortz with 29, Donovan Davis added 19.
This is the first title for the Milwaukee Academy of Science in their third trip to state.
