NEW STUDY: Hands-Free Laws Cut Distracted Driving by 13%
Recent research highlights the significant impact of hands-free laws in reducing distracted driving incidents. States that have implemented these laws have seen a 13% decrease in distracted driving, underscoring the effectiveness of such legislation in enhancing road safety.
Distracted driving remains a pressing concern. In 2022, there were 3,308 fatalities attributed to distracted driving, marking a 20% increase since 2020. This surge has led to an estimated 420,000 additional crashes and $10 billion in economic damages.
Implementing hands-free laws is a crucial step toward mitigating these risks. By restricting the use of handheld devices while driving, these laws help reduce distractions and promote safer driving behaviors.
