MEDFORD, WI (OnFocus) – The Medford Police Department has welcomed the newest member of its team, marking an important step in the agency’s public safety efforts. K9 Boone, who officially joined the department on November 10, 2025, is the first police dog to serve with MPD.
Boone is partnered with Chief Chad Liske, who will lead his development as a tracking and trailing dog. Once fully trained, Boone will assist in searches for missing or lost individuals, adding a valuable resource for critical incidents in the community.
Residents may notice Boone around town as he continues his socialization work. The department encourages friendly greetings from the public when appropriate, as positive interactions help support his progress.
The department expressed its appreciation to Wrinkled Ridge Bloodhounds of Medford for providing Boone and helping lay the foundation for MPD’s new K9 program.
Boone’s arrival represents a milestone for the department and reflects an ongoing commitment to enhancing community safety.
