MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department responded early Friday morning to a fire at Forte Opening Solutions, located at 1401 E. 4th Street.
Crews were dispatched at 3:17 a.m. after a water flow fire alarm activated at the facility. Eight firefighters arrived on scene and found a fire burning in a wood manufacturing press. Firefighters used a hose line to attack the blaze inside the building and employed a ladder to reach the top of the press and adjoining equipment.
The fire was contained to the press and a nearby panel stack machine. Fire crews were required to remove large panels of wood product to fully extinguish the flames, a process that was described as labor-intensive. They worked alongside Forte employees to ensure all areas of the machinery were clear of fire.
While operations were halted in the affected area, other sections of the plant resumed production once the fire was controlled.
The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department received assistance from Forte Maintenance personnel, the Hewitt Fire Department, Arpin Fire Department, Lincoln Fire Department, Central RIT and Rehab, WE Energies, and Marshfield Utilities.
No injuries were reported. Damage includes fire, smoke, and water damage to the wood press machine, product, and associated equipment. The fire remains under investigation.
