Darlington Completes Perfect Season, Claims WIAA State Title With Win Over Edgar

Madison, WI – November 17, 2025 – The Darlington Redbirds capped off an undefeated 14-0 season by overpowering the Edgar Wildcats 42-18 in the WIAA State Football Finals at Camp Randall. Darlington’s explosive rushing attack and opportunistic defense proved too much for Edgar, who finished their remarkable season with a 13-1 record.

Darlington wasted no time asserting its dominance in the first quarter. Quarterback Zeke Zuberbuhler connected with Broker Buschor for a 20-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring. Dante Glendenning then powered in an 8-yard rushing touchdown to extend the lead. The Redbirds’ defense joined the scoring frenzy when Callum Crist intercepted an Edgar pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown, giving Darlington a commanding 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Edgar managed to get on the scoreboard early in the second quarter when Gavin Mauer scored on a 5-yard run, but their two-point conversion attempt failed. Darlington quickly answered, with Zuberbuhler adding rushing touchdowns of 6 and a spectacular 90 yards, pushing the Redbirds’ lead to 35-6 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Edgar’s Maverick Butt found the end zone with a 12-yard rushing touchdown, but their two-point attempt also failed, making the score 35-12. Darlington’s defense continued to stifle Edgar’s offense for much of the period.

The fourth quarter saw Zuberbuhler add another rushing touchdown from 1 yard out for Darlington. Edgar, despite the deficit, continued to fight, with Butt scoring his second touchdown of the game on a 14-yard run late in the quarter, bringing the final score to 42-18.
