Brat Fry Fundraiser for Emelia and Her Family — Saturday, May 31st

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The community is coming together to support a local mother of four who is currently battling a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. A brat fry fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Weiler’s, located at 2005 N Central Avenue in Marshfield.

Emelia, a young mother and certified nursing assistant, was diagnosed in April 2025 with high-grade Osteosarcoma, a serious bone cancer that requires extensive treatment. Her diagnosis followed months of misdiagnoses and increasing pain in her leg, which was ultimately revealed to be a tumor. After undergoing a biopsy and receiving confirmation of the cancer, Emelia was informed she would no longer be able to bear weight on her right leg, forcing her to leave her job.

Emelia had only recently returned to the workforce in August 2024 after staying home with her children. She earned her CNA license and began working in the mental health field—a long-time aspiration—before her diagnosis abruptly ended her ability to work. Due to her short employment tenure, she does not qualify for paid medical leave and is now on an unpaid leave of absence.

She and her husband Keller are parents to Luca (4), Greyson (3), Saydee (1), and bonus daughter Raegynn (5). With rising medical expenses and a household of young children to care for, community support is critical.

All proceeds from the brat fry will go directly toward Emelia’s medical care and related expenses.

In addition to attending the brat fry, community members are encouraged to donate to the family’s GoFundMe campaign at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/aid-chelsas-daughter-and-kids-in-cancer-battle

A Meal Train has also been organized to help provide meals for the family. Those interested in contributing can sign up at: https://mealtrain.com/1332l6 (The schedule will be extended as needed based on participation.)

This fundraiser reflects the power of community and compassion in times of great need. Organizers encourage everyone to attend, share the information, and help make a difference for a family facing extraordinary challenges.
