Bluejays Dominate Screaming Eagles in Convincing Victory

The Athens Fighting Bluejays overpowered the Chequamegon Screaming Eagles 81-55.

Grace Schreiner led the charge with an efficient 11 points and 3 rebounds in just 18 minutes of play, while going a perfect 3 for 3 from the free-throw line.

The Bluejays would have 5 players in double figures. Ellis Baer scored 14 points, going 10 of 12 from the free-throw line. Ayva Haehlke added 14 points off the bench, Itzel Espinoza-Quiroz added 13 points, and Sy’Rih Hartwig added 10 points and 7 rebounds.

The Bluejays maintained a strong defense, netting 15 steals and forcing Chequamegon into 17 turnovers.

The Screaming Eagles were led by Gretchen Eder with 17 points on 71.4% shooting.

Athens moves to 4-10 and will next head to Prentice on Thursday. Chequamegon falls to 6-9 and hosts Rib Lake on Tuesday, before heading to Rib Lake on Thursday.
