A six-run first inning helped the Medford Raiders take down the Antigo Red Robins and move a half game back of the Mosinee Indians for the GNC lead.
Charlie Gierl led the Raiders at the plate, going 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI. Parker Lissner went 1-3 with a walk, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Sam Hierlmeier went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Will Wojcik went 1-2 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Evan Wilkins added a double.
Gierl got the start, going 5.1 innings, giving up 4 earned runs, on 8 hits, 5 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Conner Anderson went the final 1.2 shutout innings on 1 hit and 3 strikeouts.
Antigo was led at the plate by Gordon Lucht, who went 3-4 with a home run, 2 RBI, and a run scored.
Tate Unsinn got the start, going 5 innings, giving up 8 runs, 7 earned, on 11 hits, 3 walks, 4 strikeouts. Caleb Vandenlangenberg went the final 2 innings, giving up 1 unearned run, on no hits, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout.
Medford’s win, along with Mosinee’s loss to Rhinelander, moves Medford into a tie for second place with Northland Pines. Mosinee is a half-game up on those two.
